Motivate yourself this new year with a workout buddy

Happy New Year from all the team at The QHotels Collection Health Clubs. We hope your Christmas and festive celebrations were enjoyed by all, and you are looking forward to getting back to full fitness and health following the excesses.

If you need a little motivation to return to your gym workouts, then a fitness buddy could just be the answer. It is a proven fact that exercising with a friend will give your motivation levels an incredible boost, and means you are less likely to miss workouts or classes, and you will actually spend longer working out. Furthermore, at The QHotels Collection Health Clubs we have an array of offers and incentives, which means there’s never been a better time for your gym buddy to join.

With this in mind, let’s take a closer look at the benefits of a fitness friend, and why your gym buddy could do great things for your health, wellbeing and waistline:

1. Achieve and exceed your goals

Regardless of whether you are already a keen gym-goer, or you are new to fitness and workouts, having a gym buddy will make your exercise sessions far more interesting and exciting. It is a proven fact that you are more likely to achieve, and even exceed, your goals if you work out with a friend, family member or colleague. And we know there is no better motivation than seeing the fruits of your labours!

2. Get competitive

It doesn’t matter how close you are to your friend or relative, there’s nothing like a little fitness rivalry for boosting your efforts in the gym. It is human nature to want to keep up with contemporaries, so working out with a gym buddy will see you committing more time and hard work. And, of course, as you see an improvement in your weight, muscle tone, skin, health and wellbeing, you will want to keep up all the graft and momentum.

3. Have fun and socialise while you work out

At The QHotels Collection Health Clubs, we think exercise is great fun. However, we would say that – and we also know that not everyone shares our passion for fitness. Working out with a friend, however, will make your gym sessions good fun as you chat and laugh while you exercise.

Plus, a healthy snack and coffee afterwards is always a great incentive.

4. Guilt!

Just imagine how guilty you will feel if you let your friend down at the last minute just because you’re too tired to exercise. Working out together will see you both committing more time and skipping fewer workouts – if any at all. And it is reciprocal, too. Helping your workout friend to commit time and effort will leave you feeling great.

5. Less daunting

Whilst our Health Clubs are friendly and welcoming, we do understand that trying out new machines or fitness classes on your own can sometimes feel a little daunting. However, if you and your gym buddy are together, then there is no limit to what you can achieve.
